IE7 does not pull ahead of competition
Published December 9th, 2006 in All Categories, Internet Explorer 7, Reviews
Internet Explorer 7, the first major overhaul of Microsoft’s Web browser since 2001, may knock your
socks off if you’ve been using its predecessor exclusively. But if you’re among the millions who’ve switched to Opera or Firefox, IE7’s new features may strike you as about as fresh as the remote control. Been there, done that.
While Microsoft focused its energies elsewhere, Opera, produced by a Norwegian company, and Firefox, an open-source project of the Mozilla Foundation, gained legions of devoted fans — particularly among experienced and influential users.
The sleeker, faster, more flexible alternative browsers cut IE’s market share from 93 percent two years ago to about 86 percent today. TimesDispatch.com | IE7 doesn’t pull ahead of competition
