Browser security is quite a popular topic these days. As it turns out, password managers also have their share of security flaws that can lead to the disclosure of passwords and the like, which brings us to a bit of bad news for users of Safari.

In a recent security study of several major browsers, researcher Robert Chapin ranked Safari at the bottom of the password manager security list along with Google’s Chrome. The Safari 3.2 release did add phishing protection to the browser, but Chapin’s testing reveals that the password manager still needs a bit for work. Of the 21 tests performed, Safari 3.2 and Chrome 1.0 passed only two. To put things in perspective, the browser that passed the most tests was Opera, although even it missed 14 tests.
